Generic Drugs: The Economic and Best Option
Generic Drugs are the economic and good options instead of the branded drugs that are equally effective and contain the same active constituent. Previously, it was supposed that generic drugs are inferior in quality and that’s the reason why they are not expensive. People use to think that generic drugs could harm their health and could lead some dangerous side effects. But in reality, generic drugs are the replica of their brand name drugs. I would say because of the incomplete information are depriving themselves of an inexpensive option due to their ignorance.
The companies manufacturing generic drugs have to prove to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that its product is bioequivalent to its brand name drug. In other words, it should be proved that the drug performs in the same manner as the original brand name drug. The FDA mandates that generic drugs must have the same power and the same amount form and must be administered in the same way as the original. It is necessary for the generic drug to have the same efficiency and properties like the original branded drug.
Many people believe that brand-name drugs are superior. But the truth is that generic drugs are as effective as their brand name counterparts are. And they follow the same developed principles. One test of bioequivalence is to measure the time it takes the active constituent in the drug to reach the bloodstream and its concentration in the bloodstream in 30 to 40 healthy volunteers. This shows the rate and extent of the generic drug’s absorption. These properties are then compared with those of the original drug.
